All over colours are beautiful, like a rainbow. The interwoven complexity of camouflage or the rich whirl of leaking petrol in a ditch enamour and captivate with their colour complexion. Pollock’s all-over compositions capture this effect to an extent.
I’d like to use this effect in my own paintings but in combination with structure and monochrome colour blocks. Perhaps to emphasise the rich rainbow weave or maybe to hide it. Idk yet. One direction I’m exploring is the addition of sketch figures to the abstract work. I’ve tried imposing them onto an allover composition. I’ve also tried to bring the out of the coolers - draw the shapes from within the colour. I’m was not satisfied with the results.
After the first two approaches, I'm now considering another - for the figures to be abstract filled themselves. Blotted out shapes giving glimpse to a beautiful undercoat of colour. I like it.
It’s in the middle of something rn. Needs more contrast through texture or colour or both.
